My name is Julie Lee DeLorenzo. I grew up in Bayside living with my mother, father and 2 older sisters Krista and Karen. I attended Catholic elementary school and High School. My co-major in QC is psychology because I am so interested in cognitive disabilities such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome etc... I find great interest in finding out how to use intervention to help children with disabilities better function in everyday life. I student taught at P.S. 132 in second grade last semester which was, interesting for lack of a better word... The school needs much discipline and organization in my opinion. This semester I am student teaching in a forth grade classroom at P.S. 184 and couldn't be happier! The kids are great and the environment is so much more welcoming than at 132.

I've worked with children with special needs since Sophomore year of High school and have been hooked ever since. I currently run my own inclusion summer program called Academic Summer Enrichment and run an afterschool program for children with special needs at the Samuel Field Y. I hope to go on to my master's in ABA therapy and ultimately get my BCBA so that I may work together with children and teachers to affect individual children's lives. I have also had experience working as an assistant teacher at religious education programs, as a counselor at a pre-school aged summer camp, an assistant director, as a tutor and at various other programs hosted by the SFY.

Growing up I played piano, loved to oil paint and do other types of art and played basketball. I enjoy hanging out with my close friends and meeting new people. I recently became one of "those" dog people when I got my puppy Chloe whom I love dearly. My sister got married a year ago and cannot wait for the next chapters that will develop in my family life as well as what will come with the end of my undergraduate college career. Only time will tell :)
